About Common Core
The Common Core State Standards are the K–12 educational standards adopted by 41 US states plus DC in English Language Arts / Literacy and Mathematics. They define what students should know and be able to do at the end of each grade from Kindergarten through Grade 12. Exam structure
Common Core is a set of standards, not a single test. State assessments vary — SBAC (Smarter Balanced) is used in 15 states, PARCC in fewer, and many states have their own aligned tests (e.g. Texas STAAR, California CAASPP, New York Regents).
Grading & scoring
State tests report performance in 4 levels (typically Below Standard, Approaching, Meeting, Exceeding). Jarvis translates practice performance into projected performance level.
