Common Core tutoring with a curriculum-aware AI tutor

K–12 Common Core Math & ELA tutoring aligned to state tests.

About Common Core

The Common Core State Standards are the K–12 educational standards adopted by 41 US states plus DC in English Language Arts / Literacy and Mathematics. They define what students should know and be able to do at the end of each grade from Kindergarten through Grade 12. State standardised tests (SBAC, PARCC, state-specific end-of-course tests) are aligned to Common Core. Jarvis AI supports Common Core students Grade K–12 with grade-level tutoring, standards-aligned practice questions and state-test-style assessments.

Everything you need to prepare for Common Core

Exam structure

Common Core is a set of standards, not a single test. State assessments vary — SBAC (Smarter Balanced) is used in 15 states, PARCC in fewer, and many states have their own aligned tests (e.g. Texas STAAR, California CAASPP, New York Regents).

Grading & scoring

State tests report performance in 4 levels (typically Below Standard, Approaching, Meeting, Exceeding). Jarvis translates practice performance into projected performance level.

Exam strategy & time management

  • 1Focus on standards-aligned writing — Common Core ELA rewards evidence-based responses.
  • 2Master the eight Mathematical Practices (make sense of problems, reason abstractly, construct arguments, etc.) — they cut across every grade.
  • 3Practise multi-step, real-world word problems weekly.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Answering informational text questions without citing textual evidence.
  • Skipping the 'explain your reasoning' step in math.
  • Confusing standards across grades — the same topic (e.g. fractions) has different depth expectations by grade.
